Snow-covered in winter, the ridges of the Sancy massif separates very distinct slopes. Its Northern-Western slope with its sharp relief, interspersed with deep valleys, shelters the spa towns of Le Mont-Dore and La Bourboule, while its Southern slope opens more broadly onto the Fontaine Salée valley, the ski and nature resort of Super-Besse and the medieval village of Besse.
