In Przewalski horses (Equus ferus przewalskii), there is a link between the spatial distancing of the mare-foal dyad and the socialization of the foal with other individuals of the family group. The peak in the curve of the evolution of friendly behaviors (mutual grooming, play) with other young, observed during the 2nd month of the foal's life, coincides with the mare-foal above 164 ft (50 m) distancing that appears at this age.
