In Przewalski horses, there is a link between the spatial distancing of the mare-foal dyad and the socialization of the foal with other individuals of the family group. The peak in the curve of the evolution of friendly behavior (mutual grooming, play) with other young observed during the 2nd month of the foal's life coincides with the mare-foal beyond 164 ft (50 m) distancing, which appears at this age.
