The Explorers
The reef terraces of Maré are of three types. On the lagoon side, there is a first type of flat bottom erosion notches formed at sea level by bioerosion. The second type consists of notches more or less filled with lithified biodetritic sand and the third type includes the flaps and erosion notches on which a fringing reef has developed.
