Different ways to escape the bull

Camargue races take place on a track delimited by barriers of white and red wooden planks, placed horizontally and just over 3 ft (1 m) high. They comprise a step below which space is left between the barrier and the ground. It allows the raseteur to jump the barrier to escape the bull after attempting a raset. The space under the step also enables the raseteur to slip under it if he is to be mangled by the bull in front of the barriers. The walls arranged in a circle are equipped with several doors, one of which systematically stands opposite the gate of the toril (bullpen).
