The caudal fin of the Blacktip Shark (Carcharhinus limbatus) is heterocercal which means that its upper lobe is more developed than its lower lobe. It has a black border along its length. At the rear of the five gill slits common to most of sharks, its two pectoral fins are large and falciform, narrowing at the tip.
