Differences between moss and lichen
Mosses and lichens often coexist on the branches of trees. The main difference between these organisms is that moss is a primitive plant with an undifferentiated body, whereas lichen results from a symbiotic relationship between a fungus and algae or cyanobacteria. The mosses capture sunlight through photosynthesis, while lichen fungi produce energy from organic compounds present in the algae or cyanobacteria.
