Two atypical towers

It was in the 13th century that works on the Saint Stephen Cathedral began. The Tower of Chapter (226 ft / 69 m) in the north and the Tower of the Mutte in the south (288 ft / 88 m) were achieved. 1380 marked the end of the construction of the vaults, which now peak at 136 ft (41.41 m). The cathedral can be seen from any road when arriving in Metz, sometimes several miles away. The monument is atypical because its two towers stand to the height of its third span instead of its facade.
