The site of Saint-Roch, originally a cemetery, became a park in 1868 for the international maritime exhibition. It was, however, destroyed during the bombings of World War II and became a temporary cemetery once again. It was not until 1946 that it regained its function as a public garden. The English garden of the park comprises around 30 different tree species as well as multiple species of flowers, including a luxurious rose garden of 18 varieties.
