The Premonstratensian Canons rebuilt the conventual church of Mont Sainte-Odile from 1686 to 1692. The oak paneling and stalls of its choir were originally painted in white with gilded extensions, in the purest Baroque style. The high altar, from 1890, is surmounted by a statue of the Virgin Mary, patroness saint of the church. At the front, an altar-tomb, in blue-grey marble, was made in 1945 by Robert Danis. It contrasts, by its simplicity, with the high altar reserved for priests.
