Detail of a moulding frame

In these large, steaming frames are the castings (statues or street furniture) that will soon emerge from their sandy gangue, after complete cooling. The GHM foundry continues a metallurgical tradition that goes back more than 150 years in Sommevoire (Haute-Marne). The moulding workshop is the oldest building in the factory. 150 years ago, it housed a blast furnace, which went out in the 20th century. It is a vast workshop with a wooden framework. Today, the GHM company is known worldwide for the quality and fluidity of its castings.
