The Unterlinden Museum in Colmar contains a vast collection of medieval and Renaissance paintings from the Rhineland. Nevertheless, works of art from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries have not been forgotten, and the underground gallery and the Ackerhof building are home to them. These spaces were built in 2015 by the Basel architects Herzog and de Meuron, who were tasked with the expansion of the museum. In the last room of the gallery, paintings and sculptures are displayed alongside showcases devoted to Art Nouveau glass, which were designed by master glassmakers Jean Daum, Emile Gallé and Maurice Marinot.
