Provençal terracotta tiles
0
0
The roofs of Provençal houses are recognizable by the use of terracotta tiles whose origin dates back to Ancient Rome. The clayey soils of the region favored the use of these tiles accessible to all and easy to form, handle, and use. They exist in multiple shades further accentuated by their exposure to the sun, which tends to wash them out. Each house thus displays a roof in unique colors that differentiates it from its neighbors and delight visitors.
