Turtle nesting sites identified in Moorea!
3
0
While only 4 turtle nesting sites* had been confirmed by Te mana o te moana teams in Moorea since 2004, the association has identified several nesting sites on the island this year.
The eggs of two nests have already hatched. On the motu of Tiahura, 80 emerging turtles joined the lagoon under the eyes of the residents who were on watch for 59 days. In Temae, 90 emerging turtles joined the ocean thanks to Fanny, Jean-Pierre, Fabienne and all the residents of Temae who watched the nest for 57 days. At Tiahura motu, two more nests are expected to hatch in the next few days!
* Monitoring of nesting sites and sea turtle care center authorized and supported by the French Polynesia Department of the Environment
