Sedimentary rocks from the Jurassic
0
0
The sedimentary rocks of Lozère and the Gorges du Tarn almost exclusively date from the Jurassic (201 to 145 million years ago). They cover the Hercynian shales and are present in massifs, bedded (horizontal layers), or marls. The thickness of the layers can reach 2,132 to 4,920 ft (650 to 1,500 m) in places. The dolomitic limestones of the summits are particularly present in the Grands Causses and the Gorges du Tarn.
