Traveling through the canals of the Yonne department from Joigny means experiencing direct contact with the prolific nature thriving on their banks. They are home to significant biodiversity resulting from the city's participation in the creation of five sites protected by the Ligue pour la Protection des Oiseaux (League for the Protection of Birds).
