The geological and climatic nuances of the 64 acres (26 ha) of Château Malherbe in Bormes-les-Mimosas in the Var department have made it possible to differentiate two terroirs. They are vinified separately and produce two ranges of wines with clearly pronounced identities. The Pointe du Diable plots were planted in 1964 by Mireille and Serge Ferrari. They extend by the sea along the Pointe de La Vignasse on a soil of sandy alluvium mixed with quartz chips that gives the wines an iodic touch. Further back, the Malherbe terroir occupies the geological curves of the hillsides, where clay and blue schists mix to produce more mineral wines.
