Moulds from the 20th century

The moulds for all the models made at Lalique are kept at the factory. Always designed by the draftsmen of the moulding workshop, the moulds are equipped with hinges which are adjusted to the millimetre. Thus, when the mould is opened, nothing breaks. The inside of the moulds is polished and retouched by hand. Over the past decade, digital design and 3D software have replaced the drawing board. Nowadays, machines are used to make the moulds directly on site, instead of sending them to a foundry in Normandy.
