The shepherd trails that once roamed the pink Scandola mountains on the western Corsican coast are now covered with a thick maquis. If the reserve is not accessible by foot, one can always walk a few kilometers along the Girolata-Galeria customs footpath. Looking at it from afar thus avoids damaging and polluting its seabed with the anchors and engines of the boats arriving there by the sea.
