Piers built before Deauville itself

0
The two squared oak piers of Deauville in the Calvados department were built by the city of Trouville-sur-Mer in 1846 - several years before the birth of Deauville - partly thanks to a subscription of the sailors and inhabitants. They were intended to canalize the channel and facilitate access to the grounding port. Bombed during the Second World War, they were rebuilt in 1952 for the west pier and 1963 for the east pier.
