In the Jura massif as elsewhere, forests constitute essential nuclei of the ecological network as well as primordial biological corridors. In addition to their fundamental environmental functions as reservoirs of biodiversity and habitats where fungi, ferns, epiphytic plants, insects, birds, mammals... coexist, they notably have the ability to fix dusts - such as certain non-degradable pollutants - thanks to their mosses and lichens.
