Volcanic domes are numerous in the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park. They are recognizable by their round shape, without a crater, and by their slopes with a well-marked summit convexity. They so differ from cone type volcanoes. From a structural point of view, volcanic domes were built from the accumulation of viscous lava near their emission orifice.
