Several overlapping lava flows
0
0
Over various eruptions, the tributary valley of the Veyre in the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park has channeled several lava flows overlapping over a hundred meters in thickness. Deeply carved into the granite, the valley has hosted three flows before that of Puys de la Vache-Lassolas, the longest of all. It stretches over more than 9.3 miles (15 km) down to the Limagne plain near the villages of Saint-Saturnin and Saint-Amant-Tallende.
