The bells crafted at the Cornille-Havard workshop in Villedieu-les-Poêles are renowned for their resonance, unique in the world. The bell's height and thickness determine the desired note. The process, therefore, requires knowledge acquired through experience and solid notions in the resistance of materials. A bell usually gives off a thrust of 2.8 times its mass. A thorough study of the masonry destined to house the bell is therefore necessary, under threat of major damage.
