Thanks to its tropical climate, its mountainous relief and its clayey lands, Honduras has the ideal ecological conditions for the cultivation of coffee established above 4,265 feet (1,300 m) of altitude. This crop, which began two hundred years ago, is today the country's main agricultural export. Depending on the terroir, Honduras favors the washed treatment to develop the acidity of its coffee.
