Customised bells

Once the false bell is formed, red wax decorations are applied. The decorations are first moulded in boxwood, plaster or elastomer matrices. They are then glued and embossed onto the bell. There are no rules concerning these decorations, which may represent a patron saint, a coat of arms, or foliage. The name of the bell can be added, as well as that of the donor, the pope’s, or the bishop’s. At Cornille-Havard, this very meticulous work is done by hand, item after item.
