The availability of the public hydroelectric domain of the Lac de Serre-Ponçon for tourism and water sports requires that Électricité de France (EDF) respects a minimum level of the lake during the summer period in order to allow numerous leisure activities. The lake is very popular with private boats and pleasure craft and has a total harbor capacity of about 1,100 moorings spread over its various ports.
