The hammered-copper archangel is perched 156 metres above the shore. With a height of 2.8 metres (4.5 metres with wings and sword), it is particularly exposed to the sea air and the fierce, sandy winds. As a result, in 2016, thirty years after its last restoration, the statue of the archangel was removed from its base by helicopter. Restored in the Dordogne, the statue was re-gilded with twice as much gold as before. A guarantee of durability for at least 50 years!
