Common Cranes (Grus grus) are very early birds. Just before dawn, they wake up and fly to the neighbouring fields (sometimes several dozen miles away) for food. Watching their morning flight is always a moment of intense beauty. The LPO Champagne-Ardenne (League for the Protection of Birds) is an association whose mission is to protect birds, wildlife, nature and mankind, and to fight against the decline of biodiversity. Volunteers tirelessly count the birds’ arrivals and departures in order to monitor their well-being.
