Narwhal teeth
4
0
The hydrodynamic tusk of the narwhal is actually a flexible tooth with an inverted constitution made of enamel on the inside and pulp on the outside. This incisor located on its left maxillary pierces the upper lip of almost all the males and 15% of the females. Its twists increase its exchange surface and its sensitivity while promoting its rectilinear growth. The narwhal is able to repair its damaged tooth by filling it with gravel or by breaking the tooth of a young male to plug it.
