Dental system of the moray eel
2
0
The moray eel is a serpentine fish with a body devoid of scales and fins which can measure up to 13ft (4m) long. Its formidable dental system is composed of pointed and tapered teeth that intertwine to better grind. Its mouth can open at 90° to increase its power. Some species even have a double jaw : a fixed one in the front to grab the prey and a mobile one moving down the throat to pull them back.
