The La Galotière distillery has been run by the Olivier family since 1963. At first dedicated to cattle breeding, the son persuaded the father to plant 2,400 high-stemmed apple trees and 5 acres (2 ha) of low-stemmed apple and pear trees in 1987. Today, 155 to 300 tons of fruit are transformed into ciders and Calvados every year. Certified organic since 2000, the estate is among the few to sell organic Calvados, aged ten and even 20 years in oak barrels.
