Since 2012, the pier terminated by a red lighthouse at the entrance to the port of Trouville-Deauville bears the name of a major figure in local fishing, Jean-Claude Brize. Died on February 8, 2012, he was a professional fisherman who served as deputy mayor of the commune of Trouville-sur-Mer from 1977 to 2012. The Trouville pier was renamed in his memory on August 5, 2012, on the occasion of the Fête de la Mer (Sea Festival). A plaque in the name of Jean-Claude Brize was laid there on the initiative of the local fishermen.
