Dedications and decorations

Often liturgical, texts on bells from the Middle Ages to the present day use variable fonts. The most widespread are the uncial, the textura quadrata, the textura prescissus, and Roman letters. The text can be replaced by an effigy of the Virgin, Christ, or the Saint to whom the church is dedicated. The scrolls are the decorations that run below or above the dedications. They appeared around the 15th century and often depict plants like acanthus or vine leaves, currants, or raspberries.
