From Sommevoire to Paris

The GHM foundry in Sommevoire (Haute-Marne) specialises in cast iron. It produces complete ranges of urban furniture, often in collaboration with major designers. The manufacturing techniques have hardly changed since the first third of the 19th century. It was Antoine Durenne (1822-1895), the founder of the company, who made Emmanuel Frémiet’s “Elephant in a Trap” and Pierre Louis Rouillard’s “Horse in the Harrow”. These famous bronze statues now adorn the forecourt of the Musée d’Orsay in Paris.
