Emmanuel Hondré is inexhaustible when it comes to music, and his background speaks for itself. With four first prizes from the Conservatoire de Paris and a doctorate in musicology, he has masterfully directed the programming of concerts and shows at the Philharmonie de Paris since 2015. In July 2021, he was appointed General Director of the Opéra National de Bordeaux by a jury chaired by the city’s mayor, Pierre Hurmic. His citizen opera project built around an ambitious programme anchored in the local area won the jury’s favour. He took up his post in January 2022.
