During the migration period, between 500 and 5,000 common cranes park daily on the lakes of Forêt d'Orient Regional Nature Park, and between 100 and 200 individuals spend the winter there. Many raptors overwinter or stop during their migration, like the red kite, osprey, or white-tailed eagle. The Orient Lake site is also frequented by numerous bats' species. The southeast of the regional park comprises protected hibernation lodges and summering sites.
