In the processing factories, a final threshing separates the straw from the flax and produces long or short fibers. They are sorted, and the linen is combed, parallelized, and washed. High-quality long fibers destined for textiles leave the threshing floor to be braided and brought to the spinning mills. The long fibers, assembled into a ribbon and then stored in barrels, are used to make clothing, linens, technical fabrics, and wall coverings and furnishings. Short fibers, on the other hand, are used for manufacturing stationery and eco-materials such as insulation and composites.
