The parison - a mass of molten glass - is blown by the master glassmaker to make hollow and long objects such as bottles, glasses, vases, etc. Several blowings are then necessary to obtain the final shape. The parison can also be pressed by a hollow bladder to craft larger containers such as plates, dishes, trays, or bowls.
