From the consecration to the collegiate church

The expansion works of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption Church in Cuers were completed at the beginning of the 16th century. They occurred shortly before the consecration of the monument by Monsignor Barthélémy Portalenque, the vicar general of the bishop of Marseille, in 1524. On this occasion, the church received the titles of Sainte Catherine and Saint Peter before resuming that of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption, which was already that of the old primitive church. In 1653, it was erected into a collegiate church with eight canons by Monsignor Danès de Marly, the bishop of Toulon.
