In addition to a daytime visit to the renowned Pic du Midi de Bigorre, the Grand Site of Occitanie is also open for overnight stays. The remarkable view from the top of its 9,439 ft (2,877 m) opens onto a panorama of the Pyrenees 186 miles (300 km) around. Panoramic or interpretation tables allow visitors to discover and understand the environment of the peak, its history, and the surrounding fauna and flora. The history of the museum's construction, which dates back to 1870 and spans several centuries, is on display in the Pic du Midi Museum.
