The Seine reservoir lake, also known as the Orient Lake, was inaugurated in 1966 and now covers a 6,177 acres (2,500 ha) surface. Initially subject to controversies, it has blended into its environment and now constitutes a space conducive to the preservation of unique fauna and flora. It extends at the heart of the Orient Forest, which is said to contain the long-lost treasure of the Templars. Over the years, Orient Lake has become a green lung for the region and its inhabitants.
