Daily care and cleaning

The groom provides the horses with daily care (food, grooming, brushing, hoof cleaning, basic veterinary care, foaling supervision, etc.) and ensures the cleaning of the stables as well as the maintenance of the saddles, harnesses, and bridles. In permanent contact with equines, the groom does not, however, exercise a trade of horsemanship but rather of care. He only rarely rides the horses, which he relaxes and takes out on the lunge to keep them in shape. The groom exercises his profession in national stud farms - such as the Haras National du Pin - or in the Republican Guard, equestrian centers, owners' associations, or dressage schools.
