The Louvre in Paris is no longer the only Louvre. An annex of the museum opened in 2012 in Lens, in the Pas-de-Calais department, while the Louvre Abu Dhabi was created in the United Arab Emirates in 2017. The building, built by architect Jean Nouvel, houses masterpieces on loan from France, including some works by Van Gogh and Leonardo da Vinci. New acquisitions regularly strengthen the museum's collection. To date, the Louvre Abu Dhabi exhibits nearly 700 works from all periods and civilizations.
