Thanks to its protection as a listed site and its belonging to two Natural Areas of Ecological Interest, Fauna and Flora (ZNIEFF), the Var locality of Gassin has preserved large non-urbanized spaces around its medieval village perched at an altitude of 659 ft (201 m). They are mainly covered with forests characteristic of the Mediterranean areas and consisting of downy oaks, holm oaks, umbrella pines, and white pines from Provence. Gassin is also home to significant wine estates, a golf course, and a polo field.
