The stalactites in Qanono Cave, on Lifou Island, show a great variety of morphology. They are sometimes massive and form large columns with the stalagmites on the ground. They are found in the form of a coral branch (coralloids) or their fine needles twist to form twisted tufts (plumose aragonite). More generally, the stalactite forms straight points (fistular stalactites) whose starting section varies between 0,19 inch and 0,39 inch (0.5 cm and 1 cm). They are hollow and release the drops that will make them grow.
