Thanks to the past exploitation of their former industrial sites, the ochres deposits of Provence and Luberon today offer a wide range of colors visible on the surface and in the open air by some 300,000 annual visitors. The ochres were exploited until 1992 in the area, mainly thanks to water lances that stripped and sculpted them.
