Boat trip down the ‘Canal du Midi’
1
0
Undoubtedly the most famous canal in France, the Canal du Midi attracts visitors all year round, on foot, by bike but above all by boat, fulfilling its primary function as imagined by its architect and creator Pierre-Paul Riquet. In the cool shade of the 180,000 plane trees surrounding the waterway, visitors can admire the landscape punctuated by villages steeped in history. From the locks of Fonseranes in the east to Carcassonne in the west, a boat trip on the canal is full of discoveries and many visits to plan.
