On the coastal cliffs of Lifou Island, grows a woody vegetation made up of evergreen species. Although most often similar to those of the dense plateau forest, their development is hampered by the wind which dries up the plants and hinders their growth in height and by the limited supply of water. The height of the cover does not exceed a few meters and its variety is inferior, with less than 100 inventoried species.
