The Blanc manade raises more than two hundred bulls on a 1,483-acre (600 ha) farm. Only about fifty of the animals are intended for Camargue races. The others are excluded from the arenas and raised for their meat on extensive pastures. These are castrated males or females not aggressive enough to give birth to combative young. They spend their lives in the pastures before leaving for slaughter around the age of three.
